GSN - transitional housing

Transitional Housing offers temporary housing and supportive services to families in crisis referred from churches or community organizations. The acquisition of stability, self-sufficiency, and permanent housing are the focus of the program. The length of stay can vary from several months to two years based on the family’s needs and strengths. Families are required to sign a Residential Lease, pay a program fee, abide by all rules of the program, and participate in in-home wraparound and case management services. GSN staff partners with the family to form a team of supportive people to brainstorm strategies and to help meet the family's needs. Working together, GSN staff and families develop primary goals around permanent housing, financial planning and household management. Secondary goals are developed based on need and may include parenting, health, legal and /or spiritual issues among others.

How You Can Help

“Sponsoring” a family in our Transitional Housing Program is a unique opportunity for a church, Sunday School class, or an individual to serve in an ongoing and meaningful way. How you choose to support a Transitional Home family depends on your time, resources and inclination. Examples include:

Providing material resources

Tutoring a child on a bi-weekly basis

Giving regular financial gifts to defray the cost of a utility bill

Cultivating a friendship

Helping with facility upkeep such as gardening, organizing or cleaning

Delivering holiday meals

Providing a Transitional House. We can work with you to design a vision for your property, home or parsonage.
