GSN - material support

Back-to-School & Christmas Stores

Each year, Baptist Family partners with churches to open Good Samaritan Network (GSN) Stores throughout Maryland & Delaware during the Back-to-School and Christmas seasons. At each location, a parent can “shop” for needed items for $1 or a canned good per child. The money and food collected is given back to the community. The goals of the GSN Stores are to show the love of God in meeting a felt need; to encourage churches to engage the community; and to allow parents to give back to the neighborhood through the food and money collected.

How You Can Help

The cost to fill a backpack is significant and can be a barrier for a child to succeed in school. Although our host churches are excited to minister to these families, they can’t do it alone. If you’d like to partner with us, here are ways to help:

DONATE SUPPLIES. Please consider sponsoring a collection of back-to-school supplies with your church or community. We can help you advertise and pick up donations. Anything helps! Whether you collect three backpacks or 300, we will get them into the hands of kids in need. Email kate@baptistfamily.org to find out more information about donating supplies.

DONATE MONETARILY. Each dollar helps offset the cost of providing supplies for stores. A financial donation allows us to purchase items in bulk at wholesale prices. Please make your check payable to Baptist Family & Children’s Services, and note that it is for “Back to School”. Thank you!

DONATE YOUR TIME. Please consider joining our volunteer team to help with the logistics of this project. Volunteers inventory supplies, support host sites, and deliver items to the stores. Contact kate@baptistfamily.org for more information.
