The Results We Seek

Sharing common goals in partnership with churches and community groups, we seek the following key results: (1) to keep kids safe, (2) to stabilize families and (3) to help build strong neighborhoods.

How We Measure These Results

In order to demonstrate accountability to these key results, BFCS has identified the following indicators as measures for how we, and our partners, are making a difference:

  • Breaking the cycle of abuse and neglect as evidenced by a reduction in the numbers of children affected by these traumatic situations.

  • Reducing and/or eliminating the post traumatic symptoms in victims of abuse and neglect.

  • Increasing the number of families that can meet their basic need of food, utilities, and clothing with little or no public assistance.

  • Decreasing the number of children placed in Out of Home Placement (OOHP) services either by deflection from child welfare services altogether or achieving other permanency outcomes for those in care (i.e. reunification, adoption, independent living).

  • Increasing stability for children in OOHP.

  • Reducing the number of homeless children.

  • Increasing the number of churches engaged in community/neighborhood outreach.

  • Increasing family access to adequate community resources through knowledge of existing and/or creation of new services to meet needs.

BFCS Program Services & Strategies

At BFCS, the following programs have been established to fulfill our vision and mission, thus making an impact on the children and families we serve:

In November 2008, the Maryland Association of Nonprofit Organizations announced that Baptist Family met its “Standards for Excellence.” The Standards for Excellence emphasize good governance and administrative functions. This accreditation is renewed regularly. www.marylandnonprofits.org

BFCS is a member agency of the Maryland Association of Resources for Families and Youth (MARFY), a collective and powerful voice of those who serve Maryland’s most vulnerable children, youth and families. http://www.marfy.org/
